Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 23, 2026
Slow Flora ("we", "us") is a quiet plant diary app. We try to collect as little as possible about you, and to be honest about what we do collect. This policy explains it.
What we collect
When you use Slow Flora, we collect:
- Your email address — used to sign you in via a one-time code.
- Your display name — optional, only used inside the app.
- Your plants and diary entries — names, species, photos, notes, dates you provide.
- Your messages with your plants — the text you send and the replies our AI generates.
- A device push token — only if you allow notifications, so we can send them.
- Basic technical logs — IP addresses and request times, kept briefly for security and debugging.
We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell your data.
How we use it
- To run the app: store your plants, show your diary, generate plant chats.
- To send you sign-in codes by email.
- To send push notifications you opted into.
- To keep the service secure and working.
Third parties we use
To make Slow Flora work, we send minimal data to a few service providers:
- Google (Gemini API) — to generate your plants' chat replies. When you chat with a plant, we send the plant's profile and recent diary entries plus your message, so the model can respond in character.
- Resend — to deliver sign-in email codes.
- Expo (push service) — to deliver push notifications.
- Our hosting provider — to store your data on our server.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on our servers. Photos you attach to diary entries are stored as files on our server. Database backups, if any, are encrypted.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account from inside the app (Profile → Delete my account), we erase your plants, entries, photos, and chat history. Some technical logs may be kept for up to 30 days for security purposes.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See the data you've added (it's visible inside the app).
- Edit your name, plants, or entries.
- Delete your account and all your data from inside the app.
- Ask us a question by email (see Contact below).
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Children
Slow Flora is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we may also notify you inside the app.
